Spring is Coming :-)

Sorry it has  been so long since I have updated everyone things got out of control here and Ive been so busy I totally forgot.  Jacks leg is looking awesome most of it is covered over with new skin leaving just a few small open spaces.  Hes not lame but hes def off from the tendon damage but all in all its really going great, going to talk with the vet in a few weeks and find out when he thinks it will be okay to give him his own paddock instead of the outside stall.   He had his feet done today for the first time since his accident and did fairly well considering.

What a Beautiful Day

Sorry its been so long since my last post life has gotten alittle bit hectic I made baby blankets and sweater sets for 4 baby showers in just a little over a month, if I never see yarn again it will be to soon :-)  Jack is doing awesome his wound is so much smaller now it really feels like we are well on our way to being healed.  Hes starting to show lameness now but I think that may just be what we have from now on as he did completely severe that tendon which Im sure is going to leave some long term effects.

Day 71

I want to start by saying Im sorry that Im not doing daily updates anymore its just that so little is changing now I find myself running out of things to write.  Jack is doing great he walks and trots on the leg without issue he will even lope and buck a few strides while your leading  him he doesnt understand why hes still so confind hes ready to get out and back to his old life.   His leg is looking awesome to my untrained eye its really starting to feel like maybe just maybe we are on the home stretch with this injury.

Day 64

Jacks leg is looking awesome it still has a huge open wound but it has filled in so the shape of the leg is normal it no longer looks like someone bit a huge chunk out of him.  The wound is nice and pink and the edges are filling in with new skin.  I took some new pics with my cell phone but the are really really bad hopefully I can get my camera to work tommorrow its supposed to warm up.

Day 62

Wow its been a cold couple days woke up this morning and it was -17 outside brrr.  Jacks doing really well alittle sore now that its brutally cold and wanting to just hang out in his stall now but for the most part hes handling it well with his numerous blanket layers :-)  Sorry havent posted in a few days I put so much on hold when he got hurt Ive been slowly trying to get things back in line a couple things finally caught up to me that I couldnt put off any longer.

I need to place an order to refill Jacks first aid box as we are getting empty.  I need to order stretchy gauze rolls, guaze squares, pillow wraps, vet wrap, polo/track wraps and tape but I cant seem to find one place to order all that so if someone knows of a place feel free to point me in that direction.

Day 58

Jacks doing well he would like to know when its gonna stop snowing getting just a tiny bit cranky.  He cant go out until the snow stops and the guy plows, then we have to finish shoveling and put his corral panels back up so for now hes stuck with just handing walking the barn isle.  More snow tonight and tommorrow and then hopefully we will get a break so I can get things cleaned up again.

Day 56

Snow Snow and more Snow :-)  Jack is doing super totally back to his old self you wouldnt know he was injured watching him move around ect.  Yesterday he decide it was time to test out his new leg even though hes in a small 12 x 20ish pen he decided it was time to buck, run, do a few sliding stops, rear spin and take off again.  I ran out to get him before he could hurt himself but he trotted up to me happy as a clam no lameness, no soreness nothing but its time to cut his pen in half so he cant get going like that again.

Day 54

Jack is doing really well most of the part that was causing so much trouble came off on its own with just a small section left we are hoping will either come off or heal correctly from here.  I got a new picture it looks way better in person than it does in the picture not sure why that is.

Day 51

Jack had another major bleeding issue yesterday sorry I missed posting that day but I was under alot of stress.  We also got out first blizzard of 2011 what great fun :-)  Jacks doing well and the wound looks as good as it can considering part of it is coming off on its own.

Day 49

Jack is still doing well we are buckling down for the big "Northeaster" thats supposed to be coming.  You may notice a hint of sarcasim and youd be right cause so far this year every promised storm has missed us not that Im complaining but if its going to be cold it might as well snow.   I will try to get some pictures tonight when I go over to bring him in and move his paddock for the storm.  His leg is looking great the majority of it is healing nicely and get smaller still waiting on the perfect weather conditions so we can do the surgery and remove the peice that looks ugly.

Day 48

Oh my my my been a busy few days around here planning a quick baby shower and then the 3 other horses at the barn got loose and took off about 3-4 miles before being rounded up.  Jack bumped his leg on something probably himself hes not very graceful and severed a blood vessel so we has a large amount of bleeding before we could get that under control again.

But all in all its going well no pics today as Im in a hurry have to get over to the barn before the big storm and move Jacks outside stall to somewhere easier on the guy who plows the driveway.

Day 45

All is well at the barn :-) brrr its cold you there but Jacks nice and warm in his blanket so he doesnt mind as much as I do.   Jacks healing very well to my untrained eyes hes just about done with this fussy bandage change business I keep telling him hes gotta be patient and bare with me cause its going to be along time before its over.  But all in all hes good hes just the kind of horse who once hes feeling good doesnt want to be fussed over so he would love nothing more than me to just leave him alone and dispense the treats when Im told :-p

Day 43

Im an aunt again for the third time sorry for my lack of attention to the blog but its been busy around here.  Jack is doing great I didnt get any wound pics today cause he was not wanting to cooperate and stand still so they all came out blurry.  But I did get a couple head shots again most are blurry.

Day 41

Jack is doing great hes put on all the weight he lost during his colic episodes and is really starting to enjoy day to day life now that hes not as painful anymore.  The wound is lookin good the one part is starting to die off so maybe hopefully we will be able to skip the surgery as blood loose was a worry.
